Story
East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) is a charity providing life-saving critical care 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year by air and road.
I have a personal reason to be very grateful for the vital service the EAAA provides. In 2021 my 3 year old Grandson was suddenly taken ill with a violent seizure whilst visiting family in Dereham. The emergency call was made and it was immediately decided by the responder that the Air Ambulance, with a Doctor on board, should be despatched. It arrived adjacent the scene within minutes with the Pilot demonstrating great skill and commitment in landing the aircraft on the small green by Dereham Windmill Museum.
The Doctor attended for the 45 minutes or so it took to stabilise my Grandson's condition, following which he was taken by road Ambulance to the NNUH for investigation and treatment.
Today my Grandson is an enjoying a full life with little restrictions other than mild treatment and a heart monitor. It is highly probable that the successful outcome of his subsequent diagnosis and treatment was facilitated by the quick, vital response of the Air Ambulance getting a Doctor to him within minutes.
It has since been my ambition to undertake a fund raising event in gratitude for the EAAA and, having had a hip replacement earlier this year, I thought I would put it to good use by cycling the 'Lap of Anglia' Sportive.
I would be grateful for any donation towards my efforts for this wonderful life saving charity.
