Robin Walker is raising money for Cure Parkinson’s

10 day cycling Tour of Portugal 2025 · 23 June 2025

We’re here for the cure. Cure Parkinson’s is working with urgency to find new treatments to slow, stop and reverse Parkinson’s.

Story

Three years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease, an incurable, degenerative neurological condition that causes problems with balance, co-ordination, fatigue, stiffness, slow movements and pain amongst many other symptoms. I have since then embarked on a fitness programme with the theme of 'Keep Moving to Keep moving'. I have joined a group called Zwifters Against Parkinson's, using a combination of indoor and outdoor cycling to hold back the development of the disease. Last year a group of 24 cyclists - 14 with Parkinson's - took on the challenge of cycling 635 Km from Bodo to Tromso in Arctic Norway. We all completed it, and thanks to my very generous friends , family and supporters I raised over £3200 for Cure Parkinson’s . This year we are moving to warmer climes, and will be cycling 820 Km from the North to the South of Portugal, with nearly 8000m of climbing. The training programme is well underway, and over the next few weeks I will be tackling some of the toughest climbs in the Cotswolds and Malvern Hills in readiness for this challenge.

I have chosen to raise funds for Cure Parkinson's, as I believe that their focus on finding a cure will make best use of any funds raised. I would really appreciate your support for this challenge.

Cure Parkinson's is working with urgency to find new treatments to slow, stop and reverse Parkinson’s .Their funding and innovation has redefined the field of Parkinson’s research, enabling the world’s leading researchers to prioritise the next generation of drugs for clinical trial. Together, with your help and support, we will conquer Parkinson’s.
