Malawi 2026 – Supporting The Tongole Foundation

In May 2026, Will and Robin will be travelling to Malawi with The Tongole Foundation to support a school development project in a rural community.

This is a charity that means a great deal to us. In 2024, we had the opportunity to travel to Malawi with Tongole and work on a similar project, helping to renovate a local school alongside a group of volunteers.

It was an experience that has stayed with us ever since.

Over the course of the trip, we worked on restoring classrooms, decorating a newly built teacher’s house, and delivering supplies that had been generously donated. By the end of the week, we had transformed the learning environment, but what stayed with me most was the people.

The children, teachers and wider community were incredibly welcoming, and despite having so little, their energy, warmth and enthusiasm were remarkable.

There were also moments that really brought home the importance of the work. Even after completing the buildings, many children still didn’t have desks and were sitting on the floor to learn.

That contrast is hard to forget and is a big part of why we’re going back.

This year’s project is at Chankhokwe. The classroom block is already underway and close to completion, and the foundations for a teacher’s house have been laid. The next stage is critical. With the right funding, the buildings can be completed and brought into use for the community.

The remaining funds will go directly towards essential materials including roofing, timber, doors, cement and paint. Without these, the project cannot be finished.

The total funding needed to complete this project is £25,700. Every contribution helps move it closer to completion and ensures the school can open its doors fully.

We will be covering the cost of the trip personally, so every donation made here will go directly to The Tongole Foundation and the projects they deliver.
