Story
So on the 26th February I will/have turned 50, so wanted to take on a 50 at 50 challenge to raise money for Stepping Stones DS and also to help get me active. So I will be walking over the month of March a total of 50 miles which I will track via Strava. And also as part of this I will be doing a couple of Parkruns, where I would walk, as I'm not a runner.
My reasons for raising money for Stepping Stones DS is that they have been around supporting my Son who has Down Syndrome since we have been members of the charity since 2009. I'm also a trustee of the charity, first becoming e a trustee in November 2011m in December 2015 took on the role of Vice Chair, then in November 2020 I decided to stand down as Vice Chair and Trustee due to other commitments. However in August 2024 I decided to come back as a Trustee.
This charity has given so much over the years to me and my son, and still does, as it does to all the members of the charity. Because of this I wanted to give back to the charity in terms of my time as a trustee, my knowledge of the charity and a passion to want to help where I can and now to help raise money.
I have always enjoyed what I do for Stepping Stones DS, I have met lots of people over the years since becoming a member and a trustee and have made lots of friends. I have watched everyone growing up and achieving various things in their lives. I especially like seeing our members enjoying the activities Stepping Stones DS provides and seeing everyone at various events we run. It's all about friendships made, not only the children and young people with down syndrome, but the parents and carers as well.
Stepping Stones DS is a local charity dedicated to helping children and young people with Down syndrome to fulfil their potential. They rely entirely on grants and fundraising, so donations from incredible supporters like you will make a real difference to the young people the charity supports.
Finally if you help me reach my target of £500, I will walk a further 50 miles in the month of April.
Thank you!
Rob
