This is a fundraiser for a new wheelchair for Chloe. Chloe is 6 years old. At the age of 17 months she suffered a stroke which left her partially paralysed on her right side. To make matters worse, her mother passed away just after she turned 3, leaving her father to raise Chloe and her older brother alone. She is an amazing little girl who is learning to speak again and cope with her disability. She loves people and enjoys making them laugh and is a little ray of sunshine.

In January this year she received an NHS wheelchair, nine months after being measured up for one, as she needed one for the minibus transport to her school for special needs children. The result was that by the time it came she was, in reality, too big for it. The picture attached shows how she came back from school the other day, and one of the reasons why it was decided she needed a new wheelchair urgently. Unfortunately, the Wheelchair Service is under great pressure to perform and was unable to give a time frame for a new one, despite representations from her family and her school and physio team.

We were advised by another parent to contact the Makeway Foundation, a charity started by the parents of another child with disabilities, who encountered similar problems when trying to obtain a wheelchair for their child. They are currently looking at providing a wheelchair for Chloe. Wheelchairs are expensive, though, and so this fundraiser is being launched to hopefully cover some of the cost, if not all, to relieve the burden on the charity. Should the amount required be exceeded, then any excess will be used towards helping some other family acquire a wheelchair for their child.

No matter how small a donation, it will be gratefully received, and help Chloe, and perhaps another child, to live a more fuller life. At the very least, could you please share this with others. Thank you for reading this.
