We’ve been improving the lives of those who work or have worked at sea, and their families, for over 100 years. Established in 1917 as The King George's Fund for Sailors, to support the families of seafarers lost at sea during World War One, we support seafarers throughout their career and beyond.

Story

Hi,

I'm taking part in the Clipper Round the World Race 25/26 as crew for Team Lou on 'Tongyeong'.

The race starts 31st August 2025. I'll be joining my team in Jan 2026 to race from Australia up to China; visiting our boat's home port of Tongyeong in South Korea; racing across the North Pacific; then US coast-to-coast through the Panama Canal.

Racing across the Pacific will be the toughest challenge of my life. The sea has given me a fantastic career and I'm lucky I can choose to do this. Others working at sea are less fortunate.

The Seafarers' Charity makes a life-changing impact in troubled times. Our grants to organisations support those who work – or have worked – at sea, and their families. Through funding collaboration, research and advocacy, we tackle the root causes of seafarer hardship and disadvantage in the UK and around the world.

Whether you think I'm lucky, crazy or both, please donate to this very worth cause.

You can follow our progress live on the Clipper website. And my wonderful colleagues at Poseidon will be providing regular updates on Poseidon's Linkedin Page so give it a follow.

Thanks,

Rod
