Story
Olive my partner of 40 years had Parkinson's Disease and spent the last 2 years of her life attending Sage House on 2 days a week. She did not have conventional dementia but experienced hallucinations at times. She received amazing care from the staff despite the unusual problems she could pose. This is a charity that needs to be well supported.
Thoughts of Olive from Theresa Murphy, a Wayfarer at Sage House
The days Olive was with us, Daybreaks came with its own soundtrack. If you ever walked in while Tina Turner was playing, chances are you’d find Olive happily listening along, whether it was tapping a foot, singing along, or simply enjoying the moment.
Of course, spending time with Olive also meant expanding your vocabulary. Many of us learnt a few new choice words along the way; words that might not make it into polite conversation but somehow sounded perfect when Olive said them.
She had a way of saying exactly what she thought and you always knew where you stood with her.
The world needs more Olives, and as Tina Turner would say, she was ‘Simply the Best’.
