Rodrigo's Trail JOGLE fundraiser for Reverse Rett

Trail JOGLE - 1200 miles · 13 May 2025
One Saturday evening in 2016, I received a text proposal from a friend suggesting we run the iconic JOGLE (John O'Groats to Land's End) journey via trails. Without hesitation, i replied, "Why not?"
Over the years, I've completed some very challenging ultramarathons, including the Authentic Phidippides Ultramarathon in Greece, 4 times, where I covered 304 miles on foot with little sleep. Another memorable achievement was completing the 3 Peaks Challenge in the UK, conquering each nations' highest mountains, and running a total of 430 miles between each summit in just over 8 days. In 2023, I set a new Brazilian 6-day record by running 764km on a 1km loop in Italy.
These gruelling events have given me a deeper appreciation for life's simple comforts, such as a warm bed, a hot meal, or a refreshing cold beer.
Since that text message in 2016, my running partner Martin and I have exchanged thousands of messages in anticipation of this upcoming adventure.
We are thrilled to let you know that this May, we will set off from John O'Groats, Scotland, on a self-supported adventure.
We will cover over 1200 miles (around 46 marathons) in 42 days, averaging around 30 miles per day, finishing in Land's End, Cornwall. We will carry a small tent (the accommodation), sleeping bags, and other essentials whilst sourcing food and drink along the route.
Our journey will lead us through some of the UK's premier trails, including the John's O'Groats trail, the Great Glen Way, West Highland Way, Pennine Way, Offa's Dyke, and South West Coastal Path.
During this epic journey, I have decided to fundraise for the charity Reverse Rett.
My desire stems from a personal connection forged when my family and I first met Russ, Sabrina, Jago, and Sienna here in Cornwall in 2018. Sienna is a remarkable young girl who was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome.
I am truly inspired by Sienna's resilience and the unwavering support of her family. Witnessing their determination to provide Sienna with the best possible life has fueled my commitment to supporting Reverse Rett's efforts by raising funds to aid their research into reversing this condition.
This cause serves as a powerful motivator as I prepare for my most challenging running endeavour to date.
