NCI is a voluntary organisation keeping watch for people in trouble along the coastline. Our watchkeepers provide the "eyes and ears" along the coast, supporting the Coastguard, RNLI and rescue services. We are totally reliant on donations to continue our contribution to safety along the coast.

Story

Welcome to my JustGiving pages. Every child has a dream. Mine was to swim the English Channel.🏊‍♀️ An opportunity came my way and I grabbed it with mind, body and soul. It has not been an easy training journey. I have a number of health conditions that have hampered me, but my stubbornness means I do not give up. A trait I will need for this challenge of endurance both physically and mentally. My amazing husband is funding my adventure, (referred to the Sink or Swim fund) after 30 years together he is used to my out there ideas. (we have not asked businesses for help with funding, times are tough with rising costs, but if you have a business and can help at all it will be much appreciated. Our costs alone are over £4000) With him constantly by my side and our close friends I can achieve all I set out to do.😍

National Coastwatch looks out for people in difficulties along the coast, their 2,700 + volunteer Watchkeepers maintain a visual, radar and radio lookout from 60 Stations.

They report to the UK Coastguard and work with other Emergency Services to help provide timely and effective rescue for boaters, kayakers, swimmers, fishermen and hikers.

They are entirely funded by donations, any amount will be gratefully received and put to good use.

We are raising funds for NCI Lyme Bay who have lookouts at Hive Beach, Burton Bradstock and Charmouth. Following the violent storms of February 2014 NCI Lyme Bay at Hive Beach has been operating out of a shed. Operating from an extremely exposed location with south westerly winds straight from the Atlantic, their current building has had to be strapped down. They are working in cramped conditions. They are looking to replace their working space with a more robust building, with a larger working space and ergonomic working environment. They are the eyes and ears along our coast line, keeping us all safe providing valuable information to locals and tourists regarding tide times, footpaths, potential hazards and dangers along our Jurassic coastline. We have recently had many rock falls, visitors can be oblivious to the dangers they put themselves in. I wish to help NCI Lyme Bay to raise funds towards their station and appreciate your support with donations.
