Story
I am now embarking on my 63rd orbit of the sun, my plan had been to set myself some challenges in my 60th year but I am now 3 years late with it for various reasons. Last year I began but was halted by cracked ribs in my boxing training, so here goes challenge 62 has become challenge 63.
So now time once again to challenge myself, defy my age, maintain my fitness and raise as much funds as possible for The Northampton Saints Foundation.
My challenges kick off on 15/01/25. They are listed here, I am going to repeat some of last year’s challenges, complete those I didn’t do and add some new ones.
Challenge 1: Walk 6.2 miles, twice around Sywell Country Park, carrying a 20kg weighted sack.
Challenge 2: Train to box and complete a bout.
Challenge 3: Walk the Northampton Round. This 51-mile circular route takes in some of the prettiest villages and countryside around the town of Northampton.
Challenge 4: Walk the 6 highest hills in Northamptonshire in one day.
Big Hill (235m)
Arbery Hill (225 m)
Sharman's Hill (226m)
Honey Hill (217m)
Studborough Hill (210m)
Borough Hill (208m)
Challenge 5: walk the Nene Way from the source of the Nene to the end.
Challenge 6: Walk the Three Shires Way
In 1880, Northampton Saints Rugby Football Club was formed when Reverend Samuel Wathen Wigg identified rugby as a way to channel the energies of some of the county’s more troubled youngsters. The Northampton Saints Foundation continues to honour that initial mission providing opportunity and support to young people through the mediums of sport, education and engagement.
Please help me across the year raise as much money as possible for this fantastic cause.
