Team Sobell take on the iconic London Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025.

Story

On Sunday 27 April, I completed the iconic London Marathon in aid of the amazing Sobell House Hospice Charity.

It was a tough race in quite brutal heat but I managed to finish in 4:23, and even if it wasn't the time I trained and hoped for, as my first marathon it classes as a Personal Best!! Win win!!

The fundraising efforts of my fellow Sobell runners will ensure that the hospice can be there for the people of Oxfordshire when they really need it most and to support their loved ones.

My wife Nikki worked as a Community Palliative Care Nurse for the Oxford Health Trust, but she’s also worked on the ward at Sobell House. I love her dedication, commitment and compassion for her clients and I doubt there are many places quite like Sobell House that offer dignity and love at the most difficult time of a person’s life. It’s a privilege to run for Sobell House, to play a small part in enabling this amazing charity to continue.

"You matter because you are you, and you matter to the end of your life. We will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die." Dame Cicely Saunders - Founder of the hospice movement.

There is still time to give to the cause. £1,058 could fund Sobell House and all palliative care services both in the Hospice and the community for a whole hour, supporting up to 650 patients at any one time.

Thank you to all of my supporters for sponsoring me for the London Marathon 2025! You've been incredibly generous and your giving has literally made a difference. Thank you!!!
