Story

On Saturday 26th Oct I will be Bungee Jumping from the Verzasca Dam (Locarno) in Switzerland. This is the 3rd highest Bungee Jump in the WORLD! The following day, I will be taking part in a Half Marathon (Luzern).

Many of you know, I have previously done 2 160ft Bungee Jumps in the UK, this next one being 4.5 times the size of the others will be amazing I'm sure (she says nervously!) but I have to say, I'm a tad nervous esp when I keep watching videos & seeing the height!

With regards to running, I am very new to running. I completed my 1st 10k in Feb but this was more of a combination of running & a lot of walking so there's lots of training required to run the whole 21k (13.1 miles).

I am doing this to raise funds for Rays of Hope, Elderslie because I love and admire what Rays of Hope is all about. Over the years a number of family friends back in Chester have been diagnosed/ passed away due to Cancer - I really wish that the families there had a Rays of Hope to go to as I know they would get comfort & support especially being around people who have been in similar situations.

What Linda has built up is very special indeed. She, through Rays of Hope gives Hope to those who feel Hopeless. I have witnessed 1st hand the amazing atmosphere in Rays of Hope, the day I visited after doing the last event, I sat and watched……there was so much love and laughter even though people were going through (or had been) some particularly hard times.

It wasn’t that they forgot all that was happening (or had happened) in their lives but for that hour or so, they were able to put it all aside and do exercise/dance classes with Jennifer, craft, have a cuppa etc (they've even got a choir!), it was incredible & it was so inspiring to see the strength of people in that one room.
