Story
In 2027, I’ll be running the London Marathon for Leukaemia UK charity in memory of my mum.
My mum passed away with AML (Acute myeloid leukaemia) in April 2000 when she was just 34 years old, when me and my three older brothers were all under the age of 9, I was only 2 years old at the time.
Although I never had the chance to truly know her as I was so young, her memory has and always will be a part of me. Through the stories and memories shared by family and friends, I’ve come to know her as a fun-loving, caring person who was loved by everyone who knew her. She adored her children and my dad, she enjoyed rowing for the Bideford Reds rowing club, and she also loved running.
She had so much life ahead of her, but leukaemia took that future away.
As someone who loved running herself, it feels especially meaningful to take on the London Marathon in her memory. So much so that I can’t quite believe I’m picking another sport over football! 🤣🤪
By running the London Marathon, I hope to honour my mum’s memory and help fund the vital research being carried out by Leukaemia UK. Research has already transformed outcomes for many people diagnosed with leukaemia, but there is still much more to be done. Every donation will help support the search for better treatments, earlier diagnoses, and ultimately a cure.
Any donation, no matter the size, will help make a huge difference and I’d be so grateful 🙏🏽
Thank you so much for your support - it means the world 💞

More on Leukaemia UK:
We are Leukaemia UK. We believe research has the power to stop leukaemia devastating lives.
Despite decades of incredible progress, only half of leukaemia patients live longer than five years after their diagnosis. We won’t stop until we change this.
Bringing together the leukaemia community, we will accelerate progress through life-changing research, awareness and advocacy, doing everything we can to make sure that the next person with leukaemia has the best possible experience of diagnosis, treatment and care.
