Story
Why Should You Donate?:
When I was 10 years old, I went on a family holiday to Centre Parcs where I tried their famous Tree Trekking!
About 5 minutes in, I looked down and realised I was terrified of heights!
I hugged the tree I was on and screamed my little head off; the poor people also trekking had to go around me...
The instructor told me that all I need to do to get down was to... JUMP!
I looked at this man as though he was the stupidest man I'd ever met. I was terrified of heights, but more specifically, falling! So of course, Jumping down was not my idea of escape.
Eventually the poor man had to come up and literally walk me down. It was not my best moment. I was only about 2 metres off the ground at the time.
So, what better way to raise money for an amazing charity and community that has welcomed me with open arms, than by subjecting myself to my literal worst nightmare, for your viewing pleasure!
It'll be fun! It's only 50 times as high as my last brush with heights, what could go wrong!
Charities You'll be Supporting:
Dorchester Festival is raising money for Be Free Young Carers and Dorchester Abbey in 2026
Be Free Young Carers is a proudly independent Oxfordshire charity leading the way in championing young carers. They create real, lasting change for children and teenagers aged 8 – 17 who care for loved ones. Their support helps them rediscover their childhood, build confidence, and thrive.
Everything they do starts with people.
They build strong, personal relationships with their young carers, their families, schools, and local communities as well as with their team, volunteers, and partners. Many of them bring lived experience, and they work in a culture that welcomes everyone to show up as their full selves.
Dorchester Abbey
Since the foundation of the first Christian church building on this site in the ‘Dark Ages’, mission and welcome have been at the heart of this community, and these twin priorities remain at the centre of our life today.
