Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So in an absolute moment of madness I agreed to take part in a hike along part of Hadrian’s Wall with friends as one of my things to do in my 50th year! As most of you may know hiking isn’t my bag 🤣. However here I am after completing 31 miles in three days.

Day One was a challenge in itself after a 15 mile hike between Heddon-on-the-Wall and Chollerford the prospect of completing the challenge was in doubt with my feet having sizeable blisters.

Needless to say Day Two was indeed the biggest challenge. Starting the day with blisters wasn’t ideal, but the weather was initially fair and I as feeling relatively optimistic. This didn’t last for long with the arrival of heavy rain, steep hills, rough terrain and lots of mud and deep puddles my feet and mood took a significant down turn! 😭 With absolute grit and determination (and the support of my fellow hikers) I made 11 miles! My own little marathon complete!

Day Three started with light rain showers, but the sunshine soon came out and after a much shorter 5 mile trek taking in a Roman Fort, a larger part of Hadrian’s Wall and Sycamore Gap which is now sadly just a gap 😔 we were done! 31 miles in 3 days 😊

Although I have completed my challenge I’d be really grateful if you could take the time to donate a little something for Suubi Africa UK. This charity changes the lives of the most vulnerable children living in some of the worst parts of Uganda. Through Suubi Africa Village, they make sure that all their basic needs are met from access to fresh water, food, clothes, shelter, medical care, to giving them an education. They teach them the skills and give them the hope that they can create a better future for themselves. They aim to help every child they come into contact with. They do amazing things which you can see on their facebook page: www.facebook.com/suubiafricauk
