Story

Roman’s Only Chance

Last week, in the dead of night, a cat was left outside the door of one of our fosters. Our doors are closed because our founder, Kerry, is undergoing brain surgery on Monday. She has given everything to this rescue, and now, when she should be focusing on her health, she’s faced with something that is breaking her soul.

Roman has lived his whole life on the streets. He’s only a year old, but he’s known nothing but survival. And now, he’s fighting for his life in a way no cat should ever have to.

He has a diaphragmatic hernia—his organs are pressing against his lungs and heart every time he moves. It’s not something that will get better. It’s something that will kill him. We’ve been quoted between £6,000 and £10,000 just for the surgery. That doesn’t even include the aftercare he’ll need to recover.

We simply don’t have it. Our vet bills are already overwhelming—we are drowning. We’re desperately trying to keep our rescue afloat, but with every emergency, we sink a little further. This fundraiser is Roman’s only chance, but it’s also our rescue’s lifeline.

The truth is brutal: either we find the money, or we have to let him go.

A one-year-old cat. Still just a baby. Put to sleep—not because he’s untreatable, not because he doesn’t deserve to live—but because we can’t afford to save him. It’s destroying us.

Kerry has saved so many, but right now, she can’t save Roman. And that is unbearable.

We are begging for help. If you can spare anything, no matter how small, it could mean the difference between life and death for him. And if you can’t donate, please, please share.

Thank you to Sarah for taking him in that night. He didn’t deserve to be left in the dark. He still doesn’t.

He deserves a chance. We need your help to give it to him.
