100km Bike Ride · 24 May 2025

Back Up services include mentoring, wheelchair skills training and activity courses as well as support in getting back to work or school after an injury. We provide peer led tailored support to help people adjust to a spinal cord injury and inspire independence and confidence for a positive future.

Story

Rona Gordon, a 7 year old pupil from Perrott Hill School in Somerset, is hoping to raise sponsorship funds by completing a challenge to cycle 100km. Rona will start her journey on May 24th 2025, and will take 5 days to complete her challenge.

The Back Up Trust has been chosen by Rona as the only UK charity that supports children and young adults with spinal injuries. After her good friend was paralysed from the waist down following a sudden illness, Rona has been looking at ways she could help. Rona is also a bat lover and as a current member of The Bat Conservation Trust, she is keen to support their work, learning about the importance of bats to the environment around us. For more information on The Bat Conservation Trust and the work they do click: https://www.bats.org.uk/our-work

To enable this fundraising for both these charities, Rona has chosen to cycle the distance in the Netherlands, supported by family and friends.
