Story
On the 4th of May, me and Eamonn will be running the Belfast Marathon for The Road Ahead Ni in memory of my beautiful mother, who tragically lost her life after being knocked down while walking home from work in June 2020. It’s a day that changed our family’s world forever, but also a moment that drives us to honour her memory in a way that reflects the strength, spirit, and love she showed every day.
Our mother was always on the move — she loved getting her steps in, often heading out for her usual 5 to 6 mile power walks. It was her time to clear her head, enjoy the fresh air, and keep active. One of her more recent routines was walking home from work that she done almost daily. That determination to stay healthy and fit has always inspired us, and it’s part of what’s pushing us through every mile of this marathon.
Running this marathon isn't just a physical challenge — it's an emotional journey. Every step I take is for her. It's our way of keeping her memory alive and celebrating the kind, strong, and active woman she was. I know she’ll be with us on the day, just like she's been with us every day since. This one’s for you, Mummy.
