Story

Updated 9 June 2024

I Ran my first (and possibly last!) marathon on 9th June. - please to report I got over the line despite cramping up from around mile 11 after a strong start! Got around in 4 hours 10 in hot and breezy conditions on the day, thanks to my fantastic local club, Strathearn Harriers for putting on a great race. Very happy to have got over the line on the day to raise funds for SHIP who do amazing work in our community, as outlined further below. Thanks for your support!

SHIP is a safe inclusive place for children and young people in Perthshire to come and be accepted for who they are and make friends. Children and young people with disabilities that attend SHIP find it difficult to be included in clubs due to their support needs. This means they can feel lonely and isolated.

SHIP provide clubs that include everyone and ensure their needs are fully met. The children and young people have said 'they love to play with others and feel the same'.

Families of the children attending have described the service as a 'real lifeline and without life would be truly miserable.' With your help, SHIP can make more children, young people and their families lives better.
