Story
In Faisalabad, Pakistan, 100 orphan and vulnerable girls are being given a second chance at life through the GSK Women Empowerment Centre.
This centre was built through a humanitarian partnership led by Professor Abdul Rashid Gatrad and Midland International Aid Trust (MIAT) after a generous plot of land was donated by the Shaukat family.
The centre was constructed at a cost of £250,000 and now stands as a lifeline for girls who would otherwise have little access to education, healthcare or opportunity.
Today the centre provides:
• Education in English and Urdu
• Digital and IT skills
• Sewing and vocational training
• Daily meals and nutrition
• Healthcare and medical support
• Sports, recreation and swimming
• Identity registration for future opportunities
• A safe environment for learning and growth
For many of these girls, the centre is the first place they have ever felt safe, seen and supported.
For just £270 per year, one orphan girl receives:
• Education
• Daily meals
• Medical care
• Clothing and school materials
• Skills training
• Emotional and spiritual support
Our goal is to raise funds to support the annual running cost of the centre — approximately £37,000 per year.
This ensures these girls continue to receive the education, care and opportunities they deserve.
A small contribution can transform a life.
Together we can help these girls move from orphan to outstanding.
