Story
When our cousin Kay was 17 she developed a bit of a cough, and felt a bit short of breath, she thought perhaps she had asthma. Unfortunately that wasn’t to be and 4 months before her 18 birthday she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. Kay never gave up on life she partied, went to university, trained as a nurse and lived the best life she could, whilst endured rounds of chemotherapy, hospital admissions, chest drains and targeted drug therapy. Last year Kay’s drugs stopped working and there was no further treatment options availed to her she lost her battle for life on 1st July 2023.
Kay had ALK lung cancer, this is a cancer which affects young non smoking adults.
The ALK charity was set up to raise money for research into new treatment options and ultimately a cure for ALK lung cancer.
We will both be running half marathons in aid of this (Southend Half - Rory). (Great North Run - Callum)
We would be grateful for any donations to help us fight this cancer
