I’m used to shoeing athletes 🐎 now I’m trying to be one 👟

As a farrier, I spend my days keeping your horse’s feet in peak condition. Turns out keeping myself in peak condition is a bit harder (less nailing on shoes, more nailing those miles 💪🏼😂)

Taking part in the London Marathon has always been on my bucket-list but if it means I can also raise money for a deserving cause, all the better!

I’ve chosen to raise money for the Special Care Baby Unit at Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend.

The medical team at SCBU don’t just deliver urgent care to premature and other poorly babies, they also support anxious parents in difficult times with patience and compassion. It’s not just a job to them; it is truly a vocation, and we know first hand what important work they do there every day.

While I’ll be trying to keep a stable pace on 26th April (last horse-related pun, I promise!), the team at the unit will be doing what they do every single day — providing expert care, reassurance and calm in the moments families need it most.

Any money raised will go towards supporting the unit, their equipment, and the incredible work they do for families in our community.
