I'm Running Two Half Marathons in April for Young Minds Matter!
This April, I’m taking on the challenge of running two half marathons in the same month—the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 6 April and the Coventry Half Marathon on 27 April—to raise money for Young Minds Matter.
Why Young Minds Matter?
Young Minds Matter is an incredible charity that provides highly trained mentors in schools, helping young people develop their confidence and mental wellbeing. Their mission is to remove the stigma around mental health and empower young people to take pride in their development.
This cause is especially close to my heart because my eldest daughter took on an amazing challenge last year—swimming the English Channel as part of a team—to raise money for Young Minds Matter, raising over £10,000 for the charity. Seeing the dedication of my daughter and her friends inspired me to take on a challenge of my own to continue supporting this fantastic charity and, although this challenge doesn't come close to the awesomeness of swimming the English Channel at night, if I can help YMM raise some much needed additional funds then I will be very happy.
Why This Challenge?
I’m a regular runner, and I’ve completed half marathons before. Running has always helped me both physically and mentally, but I wanted to push myself further this time—to take on two races in one month to inspire others and raise awareness for young people’s mental health.
To make things even tougher, although not exactly part of the plan, I’m currently recovering from a knee and hip injury and haven’t trained properly in months. That means I only have eight weeks to get back to fitness before tackling these two races! It’s going to be a real test, but I’m determined to complete both and raise as much as possible for this incredible cause.
How You Can Help?
I’m aiming to raise at least £500, which will help Young Minds Matter provide more mentors in schools and support young people in need.
If you can, please donate—every little bit makes a huge difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to me and help spread the word.
Thank you so much for your support!
