Story
Homelessness in Ireland is at a record high. With the Government lifting the eviction ban, thousands of households face being evicted into homelessness. The data, from the Department of Housing, shows the number of homeless people now stands at 11,754, including 3,431 children – the highest number of homeless individuals since current records began in 2014.
It is vital that we prevent homelessness and work to support to those in homelessness and, ultimately, to end homelessness.
There is no reason why anyone should be homeless in Ireland.
Housing is the most basic of needs and a human right.
I am running four marathons in 2023 to highlight the need to end homelessness and to raise funds for Depaul, a leading charity operating across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland who support some of the most marginalised individuals, couples and families experiencing homelessness. They provide support across five key areas of homelessness.
Depaul's vision is of a society in which everyone, across the world, has a place to call home and a stake in their community.
Their Mission is to end homelessness and change the lives of those affected by it.
Our Values
We celebrate the potential of people.
We put our words into action.
We aim to take a wider role in civil society.
We believe in rights and responsibilities.
Depaul believes homelessness has no place.
