On Saturday 4 October, a group of dedicated volunteers are spending the night sleeping in the kennels to raise much needed funds for Rescue Remedies. Katie, Jack, Ella, Elle, Debby, Alexis, Andy, Kelly, Jo, Riley, Emily, Gareth, Simone, Becca, Leeanne, Ania, Sophie and myself are looking forward to cuddling up to our wonderful dogs overnight.
We will each be spending the night in a kennel with one of our lovely dogs who are waiting for their forever homes and ask for your support to help us raise funds to support our rescue and allow us to continue the great work.
Rescue Remedies saves the lives of hundreds of dogs and cats each year and like many charities rely solely on donations and fundraising to pay our kennel and vet fees each month. All those involved in the rescue are unpaid volunteers - dog walkers, cat cuddlers, fosterers and those who support our fundraising and admin tasks so every penny raised goes to directly support our animals.
So why does Rescue Remedies mean so much to us?
Ros - "I love spending time with the dogs, seeing them flourish and then leaving us for their forever homes. The dogs have so much love to give and I look forward to spending the night giving one of them a well deserved cuddle. I have adopted 3 RR dogs and they all deserve a family to cuddle up to like mine!"
Kelly - "I can’t wait for the sleepover and to be able to kennel share with a dog who has waited a very long time, in some cases years, for someone to snuggle up to at night and not spend it all alone again xx"
Leeanne - "I volunteer at rescue remedies because it brings so much joy into my life, spending time with these amazing dogs. I’ve made amazing new friends through volunteering. The best part is the dogs find their forever homes and being totally adored like they deserve, it means the world to me to be part of that journey."
Sophie - "I began volunteering as I can’t have a dog and also for my mental health, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. I did last years sleepover with Betzy, who got homed soon after. These dogs deserve all the cuddles they can get and hopefully will find their forever homes soon"
Alexis - "I want to give something back to the dogs who have given me so much.I have suffered terribly with anxiety and depression and being with these dogs has really helped me. Spending the night with them is my way of offering comfort and companionship, and giving back to them, even if only for a few hours."
Debby - "I walk rescue dogs partly for my mental health, it’s my time away from the stresses of work and caring for my Mum who has Alzheimer’s. I find it so rewarding seeing how the dogs’ confidence grows as they realise that they are safe and loved, showing how wonderful they are for potential forever homes. "
Becca - "Volunteering at Rescue Remedies healed a part of my heart after losing my dog. There are so many amazing animals there that are so full of love and overlooked, and being able to give my time and love to them with the aim that they will find their forever homes fills me with hope and joy."
Gareth - "Every dog here gets a second chance, no matter their history. The dedicated volunteers and staff go beyond just housing the dogs; they rehabilitate them, giving them the confidence to trust again and find a loving forever home. I'm here to be a small part of that amazing work."
Ella - " Walking the dogs gives me time to focus on something that I enjoy doing away from the stress of normal day to day life. The sleepover allows us to snuggle up with a dog that may never have had a chance to sleep in human company. It gives me a warm feeling inside knowing that our one night could be there first glimpse of what a home would feel like!"
Emily - “I enjoy volunteering at Rescue Remedies because it gives me the chance to make a real difference in the lives of the cats and dogs who need compassion and care. Many of the dogs have had difficult pasts, and being part of their journey toward safety, healing, and eventually finding a loving home is very rewarding."
Ania - "Dogs are my world and it breaks my heart to see so many suffering due to human neglect / mistreatment. RR does vital work and I am grateful to be part of such a dedicated community. Every dog deserves to fall asleep cuddled by a human who cares for them."
Katie - "I have been a volunteer dog walker for 8 years and can't imagine life without it. It is so rewarding knowing we play a part in helping our dogs get the happy ending they so deserve. I have made friends for life through a shared love of our wonderful RR dogs."
Jack - "Volunteering at RR I've learned invaluable lessons in patience, empathy, and the importance of providing a sense of calm and comfort to these deserving animals. Witnessing the transformation in dogs as they gain confidence and trust, and ultimately, finding their forever homes, has been an absolute privilege."
Simone - “I have been volunteering at Rescue Remedies for 2 and a half years and can honestly say it’s amazing. People ask me how I can do it without wanting to take all the dogs home. Believe me, I want to. The next best thing I can do for them is spend time with them, love them, cuddle them and walk them. The dogs give so much back without even knowing it! They love unconditionally. They have been dealt a rough hand in life and we are trying to make their lives better”
Elle - “I volunteer at Rescue Remedies after losing my beautiful Willow last year and I missed the company of a furry friend….boy did I find it at RR! When I tell people that I volunteer at RR they often say ‘you do such an incredible thing’ but really, I consider myself the lucky one because of the all the unconditional love all the dogs give us. I am so excited to spend a night with one of the most lovable, sweet dogs. I am so lucky”
Nearer the date we will post on here which dogs we will be sharing kennels with!
Thank you so much for supporting us.
