Hello friends . You may know , or remember, in 2024 I slept out for the night to support the One25 charity. Unfortunately in 2025 I missed the sleep out as was on hols so have committed to do a fire walk instead 😅.

On Tuesday 24 February, I will be walking barefoot across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 670°c, in aid of the charity ( eeks! ) . One25 has now been operating in the city for 30 years. It is the only charity in Bristol dedicated to women who street sex work and helps women move from crisis and trauma towards independence in the community.

Most of the women who street work are homeless or in entirely unsuitable accommodation . Women who are homeless are more vulnerable than men when sleeping out so most work during the night as it is potentially a safer option! Many are known by the One25 van that goes out every night to various locations across the city where they are known to congregate. They can have some food and an opportunity to meet and speak with the volunteers about their challenges and difficulties. It is not unusual for the women to be assaulted by customers or not paid for their service, most already traumatised by past history or escaping domestic violence. All in all an utterly desperate situation to find themselves in and so difficult to escape. One25 can be the key to unlocking the cycle and slowly but surely supporting women to move towards change and a different life. - £11 could stock the outreach van with food and drinks for a night, providing vital nourishment and comfort on cold nights for women who may not otherwise eat.

- £30 could provide casework support to a woman as she makes a report about a violent perpetrator, to help keep other women safe.
