Like 1.4 million women in the UK a year, I experienced domestic abuse in my 20's. I was blessed with a brilliant support network of family, friends and charitable support that helped me find a light at the end of the tunnel.

Having been a trustee of Broxtowe Women's Project at the start of this year, alongside my own personal experiences, I have learnt how much work is still to be done to create a safe society for women. I am dedicated to giving back to charities like BWP that helped support me.

Women are still often afraid to walk alone at night but we deserve to take up space. That's why I am organising a 'Women's Moonlit March' on the 6th of September, to empower women to walk together safely, to share experiences and meet likeminded people.

Personally, I will also be skydiving from 14,000ft on the 12th of July to prove to myself that I am capable of achieving anything I put my mind to, regardless of the emotional abuse that impacted my self worth for so many years! I am terrified of heights so whilst this may seem like a fun experience for some- it will be a real challenge for me!

All donations will go to Broxtowe Women's Project- a support and advice charity for women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse, supporting survivors of current and historic domestic abuse at any stage in their journey, based in Nottingham.
