Story
On Tuesday 24 February, I will be walking barefoot across 20 feet of wood embers burning at 670°c, all in aid of One25.
One25 is the only charity dedicated to women who street sex work in Bristol and I have been volunteering on their Outreach Van since August.
The van goes out nearly every night of the year and provides women with hot drinks, food, toiletries, clothes and a space to talk and feel safe.
On the van, we support women to report any violence or abuse they have experienced, and encourage them to come to One25's Health Hub, where they can see a doctor, have a hot meal, take a shower, or meet with a caseworker.
I am continually blown away by the bravery and resilience of the women One25 supports, and by the commitment of the women I volunteer with.
One25 supports these women to move from crisis and trauma towards independence in the community. However, this work couldn't continue without donations from people like you:
- £11 could stock the outreach van with food and drinks for a night, providing vital nourishment and comfort on cold nights for women who may not otherwise eat.
- £30 could provide casework support to a woman as she makes a report about a violent perpetrator, to help keep other women safe.
- £100 could support a woman to attend a community group for tackling alcoholism or substance use, to empower her journey to recovery.
I really appreciate your support. Your generosity will help One25 to continue to provide life-changing services.
