Story
In 2014, the 'Super Rupers' decided to walk 5km in aid of Cancer Research UK.
In 2018, two of us completed a 10km race for the children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
In 2023, I have RUN the Royal Parks Half Marathon for Women in Need, India!
Having gone through my own skin journey, this year, I have decided to raise money for Women in Need - a Leprosy Charity in India.
In 2005, the WHO declared the eradication of leprosy. In reality, this only meant that cases had dipped below 10,000.
There are still around 200,000 cases detected each year. 60% of these cases are in India. That's 1 case per 10,000 people, with research estimates suggesting up to half of India’s leprosy cases are not being reported.
Women in Need provide solutions to help beat leprosy, including: 1. Promoting Awareness 2. 'Meals on Wheels' 3. Ulcer Management 4. Social Events
The charity also support women suffering from HIV/AIDs, cancer, domestic abuse and mental illness.
Any support would be truly appreciated, and funds raised will be sent directly to the charity.
Thank you!
