In October I will be running the Great South Run to raise money for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance brings an advanced critical care team to people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight when they need it most. Highly skilled crews of Doctors, Paramedics and Pilots can be at the scene of an incident within minutes.

The Air Ambulance is not funded by the Government, and it currently costs in excess of £17,750 a day to maintain their life saving service. It is only thanks to the generosity of the communities that they serve that they are able to keep the Air Ambulance flying and saving lives.

On the day my dad died, the Air Ambulance was there to ensure everything possible was done to try and bring him back. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful, but me and my family are extremely grateful for their efforts and have peace of mind that the Doctors and Paramedics did everything they could. The care he received couldn’t have been better.

No one likes to think about it, but you never know when you or a family member might need them.
