Rosie's 80th birthday event · 26 November 2023

Cornwall Wildlife Trust believes in a wilder future for Cornwall, where our wildlife and wild places are cherished for all to enjoy. We implement projects on land and at sea, conducting campaigns and managing wild spaces to ensure nature in Cornwall thrives for future generations.

Story

I am making my 80th birthday a fund-raising event for the two Cornish Wildlife charities closest to my heart and for whom I have been volunteering for two years. The event will include a presentation by myself called 'Life is a Glorious Adventure - Journeys into the unknown', a savoury buffet (courtesy of my brother in law), a dessert buffet with cake (Courtesy of you), finishing up with dancing. It will all take place in Portreath, at The Pod (formerly The Hub) cafe on November 26th at 5pm.

I am passionate about the environment and Cornwall Wildlife Trust who through their Dynamic Dunescapes Project have massively improved my Identification skills and taught me field recording and surveying techniques, all in the context of The Towans, the wonderful dune complex between Godrevy and Hayle. Out of this is growing The Towans Recording Group, all volunteers, which will support The Friends of The Towans, who manage The Towans, by providing survey and recording support. This will help to inform management decisions and establish base lines to monitor biodiversity.
