Story
Hi Everyone!
Ella and I are taking part in the Royal Parks Half Marathon this year and we are both fundraising for two core charities; Mind and Refuge respectively.
Being forced to give up everything you own, to flee your home, to lose your support network and to move your children, often late at night or in the early hours of the morning, is one of the hardest decisions victims and survivors ever have to make. Yet it is the actions of perpetrators that give victims and survivors no choice but to leave everything and go.
I'm reaching out to ask for any donation, regardless how big or small, to help Refuge by providing refuges and safe houses for those forced to flee.
Running a half-marathon will be a challenge for me, but ultimately it is nothing in comparison to the actions victim and survivors have to take everyday to keep themselves safe. I'm hoping by running for Refuge and raising as much money as possible, this can support those having to make the hardest decisions and can finally provide a place where they can stop looking over their shoulder.
From Refuge:
Almost 1 in 4 women will experience some form of domestic abuse in her lifetime. Refuge empowers women and their children to rebuild their lives, free from abuse and fear.
Just £15 could go towards essentials for a woman's first night at a refuge
Thank you for any support!
