I have never been a fan of running, but this is more than just a race for me. On the 1st of October 2024, my mother faced the most daunting challenge of her life. After falling critically ill, she underwent two life-saving surgeries and spent three months in New Cross ICCU before moving to a recovery ward. Currently, she is still in the hospital, battling sepsis and working hard to relearn how to stand and walk.

Despite her struggles, my mother remains determined to overcome these obstacles. She has asked me to take on the Wolverhampton 10K as a way to inspire her on her journey to recovery. This charity, Compton Care Group Ltd, holds a special place in her heart as it has previously supported loved ones during their times of need.

So here’s the deal: if I run this race, my mother will meet me at the finish line.
