Rosie & Matt: Come Together for Arthur

Gower Peninsula Ultra Challenge 2025 · 19 July 2025 to 20 July 2025 · Start fundraising for this event
On 19 July, Matt and I will be taking on the Gower Peninsula 42km trek in celebration of Ani and Barclay’s little boy, Arthur, while raising funds for Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice.
Arthur would have turned five on 12 June 2025. To mark this special milestone, Ani and Barclay have invited friends and family to come together in support of Noah's Ark - the charity that provided them with incredible care during Arthur’s illness and after he passed away.
This trek will be a significant challenge for us, but your donations will keep us going through training and on the day itself!
I’ve shared Arthur’s story below (with Ani’s permission). Please join us in remembering and celebrating him, while helping Noah’s Ark continue their vital work.
Arthur was born on 12 June 2020, the first child of Ani and Barclay. After a smooth pregnancy and delivery, he appeared to be a healthy baby. However, just a few hours after birth, Arthur began experiencing severe seizures. Following extensive testing, he was diagnosed with Alexander Disease - a rare and devastating neurological condition. Tragically, Arthur had the most aggressive form of the disease and passed away at just three months old.
Due to Covid restrictions, Ani and Barclay’s family weren’t able to meet Arthur during the first six weeks of his life. It was only at Noah’s Ark that many of those who loved him were finally able to hold and cherish him for the first time.
No parent should ever have to endure the heartbreak of losing a child. The team at Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospice stood beside Ani and Barclay through their darkest days, offering comfort, care, and strength when it was needed most.
Please consider donating to support this incredible cause. Each year, Noah’s Ark provides specialist care for over 350 children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, and support for the families who love them.
Thank you so much. xx
