Story
I was born on my cousin Lucy’s second birthday, and we grew up together, playing all kinds of animal games and watching Shrek at least a thousand times. When I was 8, and lucy was 10, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive type of cancer, metastatic rhabdomyosarcoma, which she did beat several times, but it unfortunately took her from us in November 2019, aged just 15.
On May 21st this year, Lucy would have been 23, and I will be turning 21, and as it’s a big birthday, I would like to do something equally as big; I will be shaving my head to raise money for Rainbows Hospice, which is where Lucy received care in her last few weeks. Last time I raised money for Rainbows, me and my family did a cover of The Beatles’ ‘Blackbird,’ aptly changed to ‘Bluebird,’ in honour of her charity, Lucy’s Bluebird Trust, the logo for which, she painted whilst awaiting her initial test results. We managed to raise over £1000, so that’s the target I’m setting for myself this time.
Any donations, big or small, would be greatly appreciated, to go towards such a wonderful organisation, helping to support patients and their families in the darkest times of their lives.
Thank you,
Rosie 💙🕊️
