Story

I’m running the Manchester Marathon in April for a charity close to my heart. A small charity, Group B strep. I started fundraising when my daughter would have been turning 13, I wanted to do something to honour her, so I did my first half marathon. 13 miles for 13 years, from there, I have just kept going. This time I’ll be doing a full marathon, raising awareness and all important funds to help other families who may unfortunately find themselves in my shoes….

Group B Streptococcus is the UK's most common cause of life-threatening infection in newborn babies and of meningitis in babies under age 3 months.

On average in the UK, at least

-two babies a day develop a group B Strep infection

-one baby a week dies from their GBS infection, and

-one baby a week survives with long-term disabilities – physical, mental or both.

Yet most group B Strep infections are preventable. Group B Strep Support informs families & health professionals about group B Strep to save tiny lives.
