I visited Namatumba Primary School in November. It is located in an area of Eastern Uganda, a region of extreme poverty and where only 25% of girls make it to secondary school.

This is a big school with more than 3,000 pupils. They don't have enough classrooms, and hundreds of children have to cram into makeshift shelters where they often get soaked from the rain.

A group of us are fundraising to build a new classroom. The cost is £90,000, which we hope to raise by October 2025.

I am going to complete an Ironman 70.3 (hopefully) which involves 1.9km swim (in the Atlantic), 90km cycle (over the mountains of Donegal) and a half marathon to top it off…
