Story
On the 14th June 2025, a group of predominantly middle aged and almost exclusively out of shape guys will be attempting a continuous 12 hour football match in aid of My Cancer My Choices (MCMC).
MCMC provide therapies that help alleviate the gruelling side effects of cancer treatment for patients in Berkshire. From managing the relentless pain of peripheral neuropathy to easing anxiety and sleeplessness, their services are designed to improve quality of life during the most challenging of times. Importantly, MCMC offers these sessions free of charge because they believe that access to life-changing therapies should be based on need, not affordability.
This year is MCMC’s 10th anniversary and in that time they have supported over 2000 people diagnosed with cancer. Our aim is to raise £10,000 so that they can continue to deliver their fantastic service and expand it to even more people in Berkshire.
I am raising money for MCMC because they are currently supporting my wife Sam as she goes through treatment for cancer. Over the past 2 years, Sam has had chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy and surgery. This is all on top of dealing with the challenges of bringing up 2 toddlers! MCMC has been there throughout though, giving Sam a place to rest and recharge from the side effects of her treatment. £10k is enough to give 30 more people the same support that Sam has had.
We plan to raise this money by huffing, puffing, panting and wheezing round a football pitch for 12 hours straight. Whether you are here to sponsor me or one of the other superstars who has volunteered to take part, I am hugely grateful for your donation and please know it will make a massive difference to the lives of many people. On top of this, if you fancy watching a standard of football the likes of which has never been seen before, then feel free to come down and cheer us along on the day as well at the Atrium Health Club on Scours Lane!
