Story
Barry was diagnosed with Leukaemia in February 2024. Barry fought this terrible disease hard for over a year undertaking multiple rounds of Chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Barry was determined to beat the disease regardless of the odds stacked against him and submitted to more than many people would be capable of going through, he stayed positive and hopeful until the very end and had the full support of the doctors and staff charged with his care. Heartbreakingly we lost Barry to this terrible disease in April far too early.
Myself, Jo his wife, and close friend Andy will be walking an 80 mile stretch of the Sussex Boarder Path as our first tribute to Barry and those who helped him through his treatment and palliative care. The route begins in East Grinstead, close to his home in Uckfield and concludes at the Crown Inn, Emsworth, owned by friends of Jo and Baz .
Our team is raising money for Blood Cancer UK who’s mission is to beat blood cancer for good so future generations do not have to suffer the pain of losing a loved one decades too early to this cruel disease.
This is going to be a real challenge for us and the others joining us throughout the journey, but following the lead of Barry we will “Win Every Day”… hopefully!
We can all #bemorebarry
