Story
Hi all,
Every day, throughout July and August this year I will be walking up and down from McArt's Fort, Cavehill, here in Belfast. For those of you who don't know, a.) that is quite a wee trek and b.) I am at the lowest fitness levels of my entire life. A winning combination indeed.
What would possess me to do this I hear you ask? Fitness? Renown? Love? All of the above dear reader (and also some free socks!)
However, specifically, I will be doing this as part of the Endometriosis UK's Walk for Endo campaign. Unfortunately, this disease, which affects approximately 10% of women of reproductive age worldwide, has had a significant impact on my partner Haley this last year. While we have been lucky with gaining treatment, the startling reality is this can take, on average, 9 years to accomplish on the NHS.
This needs to change.
So please, if you could spare a few pennies here or there this summer, I and my rapidly expanding calf muscles, would really appreciate it :)
Ross
