Story
We’re taking on the £50 Challenge to raise vital funds for Nightingale House Hospice, supporting the incredible work they do for individuals and families living with a progressive or life-limiting illness across North East Wales and the surrounding border areas.
Starting with just £50, we’re aiming to turn it into as much as possible through a series of fundraising events, including:
- James Broad (The Travelling Auctioneer) completing a 40-mile run from Leek to Chester
- A 12 mile walk from Rostons, Chester to Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham
- A charity race night and auction evening
- A 'Biggest Loser' challenge between Tony and Rod (two of the directors at Rostons)
Every donation will help Nightingale House Hospice continue providing free, specialist care and support to patients and their families, delivered wherever possible in the place of their choice and always within the resources available to the hospice.
Nightingale House Hospice offers a wide range of services designed to support the physical, emotional, social and spiritual wellbeing of patients and their loved ones. These include:
- A 12-bed inpatient unit
- A 24/7 advice line
- A 12-week wellbeing programme, supporting around 30 patients every week
- Spiritual support
- Outpatient clinics
- Specialist pharmacy support
- Occupational therapy
- Physiotherapy and hydrotherapy
- Family support and bereavement services
- Complimentary therapies
- Creative therapies
These services provide comfort, independence, dignity and reassurance at a time when people need it most.
Nightingale House Hospice receives less than 19% of its funding from the government, meaning that more than 80% of its income relies on the generosity of the public. Fundraising events like ours are essential in helping the hospice continue to provide these life-changing services free of charge to the community.
Your donation, whatever the amount, can make a real difference:
- £10 helps keep the hospice ambulance on the road for a day, enabling patients to attend wellbeing sessions, leave the house, and connect with others.
- £32 can help fund four memory boxes for children receiving bereavement support, helping them preserve special memories of someone they have lost.
- £60 can help provide patient meals for an entire day, ensuring patients receive nutritious food tailored to their individual needs.
- £120 can help fund an art therapy session, allowing patients to express feelings and thoughts without words, explore their creativity, and enjoy something different.
- £360 can provide six complimentary therapy sessions, including Reiki, acupuncture and aromatherapy, helping patients relax and ease pain or symptoms.
- £930 covers the cost of caring for one in-patient on the hospice ward for a day, providing specialist care, support and compassion when it is needed most.
By supporting Rostons Group £50 Challenge for Nightingale House Hospice, you’re not just helping us complete our fundraising events, you’re helping Nightingale House Hospice continue to bring comfort, care and hope to patients and families in our community.
Thank you for donating, sharing our page, and being part of this challenge. Every penny really can make a huge difference.
