Story
We're thrilled to host Round The Buoy For the Boys again this year.
For those unacquainted, the race is here to celebrate what time on the water, with friends, can do for one's mental health. This charity race is open to all MFOBs + Dinghies. There will be a prize giving, and yes, the bar will be open after.
RACING INFORMATION
RTBFTB is here to yet-again champion what a few hours, on the water, away from it all, with friends, can do for one's mental health. A simple take on it, but one that's hard to argue with. The sunnier disposition land has after being on the water, is something we believe worth celebrating.
Life can be complicated, this race isn't- One start, one mark.
21 August 2024 (Wednesday of Mersea week)
Start time 1300hrs; DSC Start Line
5, 4, 1 sequence
Course; Around the Buoy (location TBC on sign on sheet)
DSC Finish
DSC prize giving immediately after (the bar will be open).
To enter, all you need to do is sign on physically at the DSC where you'll be greeted with a sign on sheet.
We'll need:
Your name
The boat's name
What the boat is
It's PY / MFOB handicap
Please come armed with this stuff so we can attempt to get some results.
If you'd like to support and not sail, you're very welcome to join us on the water, either just following along, or helping support via a safety boat.
To enter, all we're asking for is a donation to MIND, a charity close to many of our hearts. You don't have to donate to race, or donate at all, however RTBFTB will make sure every penny raised goes directly to MIND and they'd be very grateful if you did.
RTBFTB has managed to outdo its donations YOY and while we're quietly smug about how much the event raises through the very generous souls that partake, this year it'd be great to see the trend of growth continue. Last year 149 donations totaled nearly £7k.
In addition to the money, think about sending a message to someone who might need a few hours on the water. Rally your friends, invite them along- they might appreciate it more than you know.
Looking forward to seeing you on the water.
