John's fundraiser for World Cancer Research Fund

Hyrox London Autumn 2024 · 30 November 2024 ·
Even though the doctor said "Don't worry, it's nothing" - when I heard the words "Yeah, that's Skin Cancer" - the last hope that I was indestructible fizzled away.
If I've bored you enough about my HYROX stuff, you'll know that (as tough as it is) it's nothing new to me. So doing another one on December 1st isn't particularly noteworthy.
So why am I raising money on this one? Because I'm dressing up as Wolverine (hence the beard) and racing it with Martin Boyce (as Deadpool).
But also because it's there. And because it's here.
There, in that if someone sees this and thinks they'll throw a tenner towards WCRF - that's £10 they can use to help people.
Here, in that I'm in the middle of my own brush, in a small way with it.
I'm lucky. I'll go see a nice man with a sharp knife, get it cut out, and that will hopefully be the end of it. But millions aren't as lucky as this.
So. £1, £5, £10 or more. It's better in their pockets than in a Starbucks till.
World Cancer Research Fund do an amazing amount of work - and it's a charity I'm happy to be working as an ambassador for.
Every day in the UK around 1,100 people will hear the words, ‘you have cancer’. Over 400 of these cases could have been avoided, that’s 155,000 people every year. At WCRF we are passionate about reducing these diagnoses. To do so more people need access to our information and be able to make simple everyday changes in their diet, weight and physical activity.
