Story
Hiya!
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my page.
So, on 25th April I’m going on a bit of an adventure; I’m trekking to Everest Base Camp and I’m hoping that you might like to sponsor me and help me to raise funds for Barrow Farm Riding and Carriage Driving for the Disabled. They are based in Highwood, near Chelmsford, and they do amazing work by helping those with special needs and disabilities to enhance their skills and enrich their lives through riding. It really is heartwarming to see the smiling faces of both children and adults alike who use the facilities at Barrow Farm; it is obvious that immeasurable joy is brought to their lives through their contact with horses.
As most of you may know, I am the very proud owner of darling Herbie, my 14.2 Connemara pony, who is not only extremely beautiful (I may be slightly biased!!) but is one of the cheekiest ponies at the yard! I am thankful every day for having Herbie in my life. Herbie makes me happy. Whether it be grooming him, riding him or just spending time with him, he never fails to make me smile.
I would love to help Barrow Farm put more smiles on more faces.
Please know that I am funding the entire trip, including flights, myself and that 100% of your donation will go to Barrow Farm.
I am training hard to ensure that I am at peak fitness in order to complete the trek. Not only will I be dealing with long and steep treks over difficult terrain, I will be battling the increase in altitude. Base Camp sits at an elevation of 5364m above sea level and the oxygen levels there are about 50% less than at sea level; this means that there is less oxygen available to your body when you breathe.
I am pretty nervous about travelling to Kathmandu on my own and then meeting my guide and 3 fellow solo trekkers who I will be joining on this epic adventure; however, if I am able to raise some money for Barrow Farm then it’ll make all the training and all the nerves worth while.
Thanks so much guys.
With much love, Roxie xxx
