Story
Last year my daughter was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. It's been a challenging 9 months for my family as we have all been heartbroken over her diagnosis. During this time Starthrowers have been there to support Grace whilst going through chemotherapy and have also been able to support myself and my family with the emotional toll of the news. I want to give back to Starthrowers by doing this abseil a year after Grace's diagnosis!
There’ll be near 80 of us in total conquering the Forum that day, so please come down to Millennium Plain and show your support.
Last year, a member of our team at work was diagnosed with breast cancer, and this has inspired a group of us to organise events to raise money for Star Throwers and start a wider fundraising effort throughout the year, Challenge 150. Our mission is to raise awareness about the importance of self-examination, to raise funds for cancer charities and to support them by volunteering our time.
'Why Challenge 150?' - the answer is simple; over 150 new breast cancer cases are diagnosed in the UK every day (Source: Cancer Research UK).
