South Coast Ultra Challenge 2026 · 5 September 2026 to 6 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

We have been providing housing, residential and nursing care to former seafarers, their widows and dependants for 160 years. Our residential and nursing care home, Belvedere House, together with our sheltered flats, is situated within idyllic grounds near Banstead, Surrey.

Story

Help us create a more inclusive, Dementia-Friendly communal area for our residents.

Every day, our nursing home is more than just a place to live - it is a community, a safe haven, and a space filled with compassion, dignity, and care. Our residents deserve an environment that not only meets their needs but truly enhances their quality of life.

We are raising funds to transform our communal areas into a fully dementia-friendly, inclusive space that supports all residents, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities. This project will help us create a welcoming environment that is easier to navigate, calming, and engaging - not only for those living with dementia, but also for residents with disabilities and the many families and guests who visit. And if the fund allowes to additionally transform our outdoor space at Princess Royal Unit where we loooking after residents living with dementia.

Our vision is to introduce thoughtful design features such as clear signage, appropriate lighting, sensory elements, comfortable and accessible furniture, and spaces that encourage social interaction, independence, and wellbeing. These improvements will make a meaningful difference in everyday life - reducing anxiety, promoting confidence, and helping residents feel truly at home.

At the heart of our home is an incredible team who go above and beyond every single day. They give their time, energy, and kindness to ensure each resident feels valued, respected, and cared for.

To help bring this vision to life, our team is stepping up in an extraordinary way. They will be taking part in the 50km South Coast Challenge, pushing themselves both physically and mentally to raise funds for this important cause. This is not just a walk - it is a powerful demonstration of their commitment to our residents and their determination to make a lasting difference.

This project is a natural extension of their work - giving them the environment they need to continue delivering outstanding care and creating joyful moments for those we support.

By donating, you are helping us build a space that reflects our core values of inclusivity, dignity, and community. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to creating a better, brighter, and more supportive home for our residents and their loved ones.

Please support us and be part of this meaningful change.

Thank you.
