Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I know a marathon - wow something I thought I’d never do, but after entering the London ballot for the very first time and never actually thinking I’d get a place - the unthinkable happened & I’m in!
So I dusted off my trainers and started my marathon journey with Couch to 5km.
I ‘retired’ from running after 2 arthroscopies on my left knee, 4 years apart and the last one 10 years ago and have never run more than a half marathon (not yet anyway).
I’m the slow one at the back but so what, I just want to get round without getting injured and after all I’m no spring chicken!
I’m also doing this for Mum who sadly passed away at Christmas, she was full of encouragement for me doing the London Marathon and this has kept me going through the cold, dark, wet, long, morning and evening training runs which I’m trying to fit in around work and life.
Mum was supported by City Hospice when Dad passed away a few years ago from Bladder Cancer - they also supported him through his journey and it’s good to give something back.
Cancer has touched most of us at some point in our lives and it’s good to know that someone is there for you and your family when you hear those words ‘palliative care’
Thank you 🤗 Roz
