WAGS (Wiltshire, Avon, Gloucestershire, Somerset) Retired Police Dog Charity purpose is animal welfare. We want to ensure no retired police dog is ever euthanised due to lack of financial means by their new owners. WAGs was set up to help these beneficiaries (the handlers and members of the pubic who take on looking after the retired police dogs) with the cost of life saving veterinary treatment to ensure the retired police dogs can be given the veterinary treatment they require to allow them to lead a happy healthy retirement after they have served the public for years as police dogs. Your donations are extremely important to us and we are very grateful for your generosity.

Story

RPD Stella & I are raising money for WAGS Retired Police Dogs. WAGS have been kindly supporting Stella with her veterinary care since she retired in September 2022.

Stella has been experiencing discomfort with her neck for several months. Stella was a bit naughty and squeezed herself through the cat flap at home. This sadly caused the problem to her neck. Stella has been receiving chiropractor treatments supported by WAGS Retired Police Dog Charity.

I've ensured she can never go near the cat flap, to prevent this ever happening again. Stella's amazing chiropractor Emma has helped ease Stella's discomfort, however the condition is not improving and Emma has referred us to vet Rachel. Stella has got to the stage where she doesn't want to go for a walk which is very worrying as she has always loved her walks with her friends.

Stella needs an MRI scan on her neck so we can find out what treatment she needs to help her become pain free. This MRI is very expensive due to the nature of the scan. Stella also needs an operation to remove a lump that has come up under the skin in her tummy area. Her blood test results came back ok so we are hoping that this lump is nothing sinister. Stella's vet Rachel will remove this lump at the same time that Stella is sedated for the MRI scan.

The scan and lump removal has been booked for Thursday 26th October 2023.

Due to the high cost for the MRI scan and not knowing what the cost of the treatment will be once the results are known, I'm doing this fundraiser for WAGS Retired Police Dogs to ensure they can support all of Stella's treatment. Stella is my world and I want her to have the very best care during her retirement. Unfortunately I couldn't obtain dog insurance for Stella and I am so very grateful to WAGS for all their support of Stella and wanted to do this fundraiser to help the charity.

As a thank you for your kind donations I will put all names in a draw at the end of this fundraiser and pick out one winner. This person will get to spend the day with Stella as our way of thanking you all for your support.

All donations made to this fundraiser are paid by JustGiving directly to WAGS Retired Police Dog Charity
