Story
Hi, I’m Ruby, a dental nurse at Bramley Dental Practice in Rotherham. In February 2027, I’ve been given the amazing opportunity to volunteer in Uganda for two weeks with the dental charity Dentaid.
To raise awareness of global dental poverty and help fund the trip, I’m challenging myself to run 5K every day. Alongside 11 other volunteers, I’ll be providing vital dental care in prisons, orphanages, schools, churches and remote communities, treating up to 200 people a day. For many, this will be their only chance to see a dentist. Due to limited resources, treatments will include extractions, fluoride applications and basic fillings.
I’m aiming to raise £2,000, with all donations supporting Dentaid, dental supplies (such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, instruments and PPE), and helping make this trip possible. In Uganda, 96% of the population has extremely limited access to dental care, so every contribution truly makes a difference.
Dentaid is a UK-based dental charity founded in 1996, providing free dental care and oral health education to vulnerable communities in the UK and around the world.
Every donation counts — even £1 could provide a child or adult with their first toothbrush. Thank you for your support 💙
