London To Paris Cycle · 13 October 2023

We are a free peer support charity that connects people through their grief and mental health. We aim to change the way we discuss our grief, mental health and well-being in open and honest spaces. Nobody should ever feel isolated, and there is always somebody who will relate to your story.

Story

We have chosen to raise money for 2 charities, this is the page to donate to the New Normal.

Spending time on your bike can provide valuable head space to help you process the emotions of your day, both big and small, whilst the rhythm of cycling also allows difficult conversation to open up at its own natural pace. The New Normal is a charity that recognises the benefits of conversation in dealing with mental health struggles and bereavement in particular. For some riders, raising money to help TNN is the key motivation behind the challenge, after witnessing the profound impact the charity has been able to have on the lives of close friends.

The Challenge:

On Friday 13th October 2023, a group of 17 thrill-seeking, intrepid Ruffer explorers from all over the firm are taking on the challenge of cycling from the Ruffer London office to the Ruffer Paris office - cycling over 100km on day 1 and over 200km on day 2.

This will be no mean feat, and although croissants a-plenty will provide much needed motivation to keep the pedals turning, a donation to support a deserving charity will give a huge uplift to moral, and of course, to the charity and those individuals they are able to support through their work. Many of the team are not the most experienced in cycling and have been training hard to attempt the journey, however, a monumental team effort will be required to complete the crossing.

If that's not enough, some members of the team will be cycling back again, some will be racing marathons the next day and someone is even rumoured to be completing the challenge on a fixed gear bike!

With thanks from us all.
